Myrton Purkiss

Myrton N. Purkiss (1912 - 1978) was active/lived in California / Canada.  Myrton Purkiss is known for Painter, ceramic artist.

Born in Canada on March 10, 1912. Purkiss moved to southern California in 1924 and studied at USC and the Chouinard Art School in Los Angeles. During WWII he built scale maps for the allied forces in England. After the war he returned to Fullerton, CA and was a landscape architect until his death on Sept. 15, 1978. Exh: San Diego FA Gallery, 1934, 1937; Univ. of Redlands, 1948; Hatfield Gallery (LA), 1952; Muckenthaler Center (Fullerton), 1977 (solo).
